Year 9 City Cite

The Year 9 students spent two weeks earlier this term on an intensive city experience, gaining independence, discovering more about Melbourne and working in a group project culminating in an impressive presentation to parents on the final Friday evening. SMS girls and BGS boys visited Eureka Tower, the Magistrates Court, Parliament, The Shrine of Remembrance as well as undergoing an art tour in the unique lanes of Melbourne. In addition to that, students visited Urban Seed, a charitable organisation helping the homeless, learnt about the story behind The Big Issue and volunteered at Fare Share where they cooked meals for the disadvantaged. All Year 9’s worked together throughout the two weeks and in small groups completed research projects relating to city issues requiring them to gather information and work together towards the final presentation. We are extremely proud of the way the girls conducted themselves throughout the entire journey and the extent to which they have grown from the experience.
