This month in Science

It’s been a busy time in the Sciences at St Margaret’s Senior School. We have had the Year 9 girls solving crime in the Forensics Unit and the Year 8 girls designing ‘green’ homes to present in the Shelter’s exhibition. Thanks to Cornell homes, the girls had their houses and their research appraised by housing design professionals who also donated and awarded a trophy and prizes for the winning design. Students going into Year 10 Sciences next year also had Dr Alicia Greenhill, a past student, come and talk to them about her science journey and the importance of research in Science as they start to prepare for the Big Question project which they will undertake next year. This week, all year 11 students for 2017 who are going to be studying a Science subject travelled to the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute to talk to leading scientists and learn what is happening in cutting edge biomedical research. They then went to the Monash Materials Engineering Faculty where they saw how science, technology and maths come together to produce world leading innovative design.
