Service to the local community

The Senior School girls have once again shown their support for The Australian Red Cross and The Salvation Army this semester.

In March, students from Years 11 and 12 volunteered to participate in Red Cross Calling. This involved tin rattling within the Berwick Village shopping precinct, raising money for people in need at times of crisis, both locally and overseas.

Term 2 saw more senior students collecting donations in Berwick for the Red Shield Appeal. The funds raised by the girls on this afternoon will help The Salvation Army deliver a wide range of social services, such as homeless shelters and refuge for woman and children in crisis.

Current discussions within the Social Service Committee are centered on climate change. In the last week of term, Cunningham House Social Service representatives will be running activities to raise awareness on climate change issues, collaborating with the Environment Committee to celebrate World Environment Day.

Our girls have continued to demonstrate the compassion and social responsibility that they have long been known for, and should feel proud of being such active members of the community.
