Performing Arts

Many of our musicians have been taking part in a range of Eisteddfod and Music Festivals across Melbourne over the last few months.

Declan Coleman from Year 7 participated in the Melbourne Youth Orchestra’s holiday program, whilst Eisak Tabensky performed at the annual Suzuki Conference in the Gala Concert on piano. It was a great honour for him to have been chosen from a number of applicants.

The International Saxophone Festival was held in late July and two of our saxophonists, Nahum Ridoutt and Eisak Tabensky performed with 98 other saxophonists. They totally enjoyed the experience and would encourage other musicians to register and participate next year.

Gavin Li, Year 9, received an Honourable Mention at the Monash Youth Music Festival in the 16 and Under Woodwind and Brass section. His performance on the flute was of a particularly high standard for his age.

Eisak Tabensky has been extremely busy as he also performed at the Warragul Eisteddfod just last week and received awards in the following categories: 1st U13 Piano Championship, 1st U14 Piano Championship, 2nd in Own Choice Solo Piano.

BGS In Concert is fast approaching and all ensembles, soloists and, of course, the Berwick Blokes have been preparing their repertoire for the concert.

The Concert is on Wednesday 12 September, 7.30 pm at the Rosanove Auditorium, St Margaret’s School. Tickets are now on sale through the school website. It promises to be an evening not to be missed.
