Murrundindi Starts The BGS Year Off

It was our absolute privilege to have our good friend Murrundindi, Ngurungaeta of the Wurrundjeri officially open our campus with a Welcome to Country Ceremony on the first day of school.

The boys were all given a “passport” in the form of a gum leaf at the beginning of the Ceremony in the Performance Centre, handed out by gentlemen active in the Reconciliation Action Plan process, including Kurt Caddy of Year 12 and Tully Webb and Tallis Pritchard of Year 8.

The Murrundindi played his didgeridoo – complementing Year 10 student Eisak Tabensky on the piano as they played the school song.  No doubt this will be an experience Eisak will remember in the years to come.

Murrundindi always speaks with the land at heart – and land that has been hurting over the summer months.  It was moving and touching and utterly appropriate to celebrate the return of our community to this space together.
