Library

St Margaret’s Berwick Grammar has three purpose-built libraries across Junior School, Senior Girls and Senior Boys. The resources in each are available to all students.

We are justifiably proud of our Senior Girls library, which is situated in the very heart of the campus. The library is designed as a large, open-plan space perfectly suited to learning collaboratively or study. The provision in the library is outstanding with an extensive range of books, multimedia and digital resources which are available to all year groups.

The library, which is open daily until 5.00 pm, is the focus of independent study at St Margaret’s Berwick Grammar.

Outstanding support is offered to academic departments in delivering the curriculum but the library also employs librarians to help promote independent research. It is a place where students congregate after school to work on homework and projects, where they have the benefit of teacher access to help them during this time.

The library is resource rich offering students an array of learning, reading and information sources

Reading both for pleasure and academic study is a fundamental strand of the library’s work and initiatives.

In particular, the library works closely with the English department and the Wellbeing Team to develop reading for pleasure and provide recommended reading suggestions.

The library offers a vast array of fiction non-fiction and reference books which can be ordered and shared across our library network.
