St Margaret’s girls have made a very promising start to the DAV Debating season. Our Year 10 (C Grade) and Year 9 (D Grade) teams won their debates by strong margins and Tharushi Banneka, Kara O’Sullivan and Yebin Yang were each awarded best speaker in their debates. Our Year 8 (D Grade) students participated in their first DAV debates, only narrowly being defeated. As their debating experience increases, so too will their speaking abilities under the leadership of Debating Captain Tracy Bu and her team of Year 12 mentors. Our Year 12 (A Grade) students also faced a one-point loss against their competitors while the Year 11 (Grade B) won due to forfeit.
Preparations now begin for Round 2 on Thursday 27 April. St Margaret’s is a host school for the Berwick region and we welcome family and friends to come and support the girls in their debates.
