Learning Diversity

At St Margaret's Berwick Grammar we believe that supporting or extending our students requires a team approach.

The Junior School Learning Diversity department supports students' identified individual learning needs (support - ASPIRE and extension - INSPIRE). The staff work with students from Prep to Year 6 to provide personalised learning, to meet students where they are, and stretch them in their learning to be the best that they can be.

Creating tailored programs to meet the needs of your child

Staff work collaboratively with the classroom teachers, specialist teachers and Learning Assistants regarding specific student needs. Depending on the nature of support and the session requirements, learning support in the Junior School is provided through in-class assistance, withdrawal in small groups or one-to-one sessions.

Learning Diversity staff recognise learning differences, collaborate with teachers to differentiate learning for students across all subject areas and enhance communication between students, parents, teachers and external agencies. The Learning Diversity team supports classroom teachers in writing Individual Education Plans and undertaking internal school assessment as required in English and Mathematics. Learning Diversity staff also organise appropriate external referrals as needed.

At St Margaret’s Berwick Grammar, the support of our Learning Diversity students is a shared responsibility. We need to know our students, meet them at their point of need, and equip them to reach their own personal summit of success.
