Park Benches

The Official Opening of the refurbished Berwick Grammar School sports oval was held in November 2017 with the inaugural Old Boys XI and the BGS All-Stars cricket match in a nail-biting exhibition. It was a wonderful turn out and an event that will now take place on an annual basis.

Our Operations Manager has stated ‘It’s got to be the best sports oval in all of the south east suburbs”. We are now in need of park bench seating to be placed around the oval and if you would like to make your mark on the newly hallowed turf, why not purchase a seat and a plaque to commemorate the occasion.

The Cottage and Kippenross Restoration Project
The Cottage, a charming neo-Gothic building at the entrance to the school in Gloucester Avenue has been used for many purposes since its purchase in 1954. It was built in 1878 and has a slate roof and interesting details including polychromatic brickwork.

This beautiful building is to become the Heritage Centre for the school showcasing the extensive archive collection and the many gifts and donations the school has received over the years. On display will be uniform of past eras, furniture from the boarding house and a collection of photographs to name just a few items.

Listed under Heritage Victoria, The Cottage will be fully restored and will become a focal point of the school’s history.

The Archives are unique, a gift from one generation to another, important to the history of the school and the future students. The Cottage is an ideal setting for this valuable collection. In the past it has been used as a middle school boarding house, an art and craft centre, an early learning centre, and administration centre but it will really come into its own as a heritage centre to display the school’s proud history of almost 90 years. It will be a place for alumnae to relive their school days, for present students to learn of the school’s history and for future students.

Centre for Exercise and Sport Science
Berwick Grammar School provide an extensive range of activities that we offer our students, as part of both the Curricular and Extra Curricular Sport and Physical Education programs. We have developed a framework of support and established clear channels for personal development for our students, with our experienced Physical Education team. However, many activities have to be taken off site due to a lack in current facilities.

With the addition of a new Centre for Exercise and Sport Science at Berwick Grammar School, we will be able to deliver our extensive, high quality Physical Education program on site and provide our students with outstanding facilities in which they can strive to achieve their personal best.

Currently we play our home games for indoor sports off-site and also take much of our House Sport program off-site also. With the addition of the new centre will be able to give our boys a top class facility to support their sports programs. With the retractable seating we will be able to host other schools within the competitions at Berwick Grammar School.

In addition to the sports program we will be able to significantly extend the range and quality of opportunities that we can offer all our students within the Physical Education curriculum, introducing a range of new activities.

The centre will enable us to further develop our Inter House Sports program increasing the range of activities we can offer on site at Berwick Grammar School. Inter House activities such basketball, indoor soccer, badminton, handball, indoor hockey, floorball, futsal, fitness and conditioning will be some of these programs.
