Library

St Margaret’s Berwick Grammar has three purpose-built libraries Junior School, Senior Girls and Senior Boys. The resources in each are available to all students.

We are justifiably proud of our Senior Boys library, which is situated in the very heart of the campus. The library is design as a large, open plan space. The provision in the library is outstanding with an extensive books multimedia and digital resources which is available to all year groups.

The library, which is open daily until 4.30 pm, is the focus of independent study at St Margaret’s Berwick Grammar.

Outstanding support is offered to academic departments in delivering the curriculum but the library also employs librarians to help promote independent research. It is a place where students congregate after school to work on homework and projects, where they have the benefit of teacher access to help them during this time.

The Senior Boys Library is place of study, collaboration, exploration and pursuits

Reading both for pleasure and academic study is a fundamental strand of the library’s work and initiatives.

In particular, the library works closely with the English department and the Wellbeing Team to develop reading for pleasure and provide recommended reading suggestions. This is further reinforced through our drop everything and read program (DEAR), which is designed to encourage active reading by the boys focusing on students reading based on interests and passions as well as storytelling.

The library offers a vast array of fiction non-fiction and reference books which can be ordered and shared across our library network.
