ENVIRONMENT TEAM EXCURSION

ENVIRONMENT TEAM EXCURSION

On Monday 26 February, the Berwick Grammar School Environment Team headed to Phillip Island to explore the Rhyll Trout and Bush Tucker Farm.  With the guidance of our local elder Murrindindi the boys learnt about local bush tucker and how it differs from the Healsville area, particularly in relation to rain, sand and salt content of the soil.   They also discovered various plants and their uses, and sneaky ways to catch trout.

The boys loved the opportunity to learn about native plants and spend some time with Murrindindi.  After the tour, they shared a lemon myrtle cordial and locally made variation on the ANZAC biscuit.

The boys have grand plans of an indigenous garden at BGS, which will hopefully, eventuate this year.
