Celebrating the Class of 2018

As staff of Berwick Grammar School we are incredibly proud of the VCE Class of 2018 who have delivered the best set of VCE Results in the School’s history. Our focus on student growth and development at Berwick Grammar School is on academic achievement and character development, essential elements of a young man’s pathway through secondary education. These elements are not mutually exclusive, and provide our students with the contemporary attributes and agency to achieve in their selected subject areas and dimensions of passion. We are a proudly comprehensive school that welcomes and celebrates young men of diversity with a variety of talents across the breadth of a Berwick Grammar School experience. This includes participation in our exceptional array of cultural and extra-curricular pursuits.

The announcement of the VCE results this morning represents a wonderful outcome for the boys of the Class of 2018 who have led the School with diligence and commitment. These results are reflective of the hard work and dedication these young men have put into academic endeavours.

We join with parents and friends of the boys in the VCE Class of 2018 in celebrating their achievements, whilst also acknowledging the mentorship and guidance provided by the dedicated teachers who have supported their students every step of the way. This is as true of the teachers who worked with the boys in the Early Learning Centre, Junior School, Middle Years as it is of those who have guided learning in the demanding final years of VCE Subjects. Relationships are central to student learning within a boys’ school and the manner in which our teaching staff have sought to challenge, engage and care for our boys is commendable.

This is a series of results of which our entire school community can be justifiably proud and share in the achievement of our wonderful students.

The Dux of Berwick Grammar School for 2018 is Pamod Suriyage who attained the outstanding ATAR of 99.

During his time at Berwick Grammar School, Pamod displayed excellent standards of organisation which enabled him to thrive in his busy schedule. He was especially passionate about his Economics, Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics studies.

In our School Awards at the completion of the VCE course, Pamod was acknowledged as the highest achieving student in the VCE subjects of Economics, Mathematical Methods, and Specialist Mathematics. Pamod’s teacher’s were delighted to hear of his successes and each commented on his wonderful results as a reflection of his mature outlook, resourcefulness, modesty and commitment to hard work and success.

Pamod was actively engaged in the ethos of the School, participating enthusiastically in the House life of the School and as a member of Cricket, Football and Swimming teams. Pamod demonstrated the same dedication in his extra curricular pursuits as he did to his academic achievement.

Well done Pamod, your School community is so proud of you.

Head of Berwick Grammar School
