BGS FLAG AT VICTORIAN ALL SCHOOLS TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIP

Across the Melbourne Cup weekend BGS Year 10 student Matthew Merrilees was busy running, jumping and throwing as best he could, representing BGS at the 2019/2020 Victorian All Schools Track and Field Championship at Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park. After dominating the SIS athletics carnival earlier in the year, Matt proudly represented the school in his chosen events of High Jump, Shotput, 100m and 200m.

Matt’s best results were in the Shotput but in the high jump where he managed 1.85m which was a big improvement on his jump of 1.74m at the same event in 2018. This placed Matt in 5th position, 2 spots higher than his 7th last year.  He also managed 5th in the Shotput which is a great result for Matt as his pet events are generally running and jumping. It is always fantastic to see our students proudly representing our school on the biggest of stages. Matt’s hard work and dedication to his training are a credit to himself and have shown through in the results he has achieved at this carnival. Well done Matt, the staff and students at BGS are extremely proud of your efforts in showcasing our school to the rest of the state!
