Year 9 – City Cite

The Year 9 St Margaret’s girls have spent the last two weeks on an intensive city experience, gaining independence, discovering more about Melbourne and working in a group project setting culminating in an impressive presentation to parents on Friday evening. The girls visited Eureka Tower, the Magistrates Court, Old Melbourne Gaol, Parliament, the Shrine of Remembrance as well an art tour in the unique lanes of Melbourne. In addition to that, girls visited Urban Seed, a charitable organisation helping the homeless, learnt about the story behind The Big Issue and volunteered at Fare Share where they cooked meals for the disadvantaged. Girls were divided into small groups to complete a research project relating to city issues requiring them to gather information and work together towards the final presentation. We are extremely proud of the way the girls conducted themselves throughout the entire journey and the extent to which they have grown from the experience.
