Wonderful start to 2020 in the ELC

It has been a pleasure to welcome back our ELC families and greet all the new children and families that have joined us. Many children arrived, excitedly wearing their special unicorn uniforms, ready to embrace all the learning experiences that we have on offer. Others felt a little apprehensive about leaving their families and saying goodbye to those who dropped them off at school for the first time. This is a normal reaction.  Our first few weeks focus on helping the children develop a sense of belonging within their special new classes. Positive relationships are vital to supporting everyone’s wellbeing. As the children learn the names of others, begin to understand the daily routines, and find experiences that intrigue and engage them, the teachers begin to understand the individual needs, interests and strengths of each unique child. We are looking forward to our ‘Meet the Teacher’ chats, in the coming weeks, which help us to further understand and become familiar with each child.

Our year certainly began with great excitement, as we entered our remodelled foyer and classrooms. Our school workmen, alongside external contractors, clearly worked very hard over the holiday break to create a beautiful new entry to the ELC.  Our teaching team and children appreciate and value their huge efforts, as we enjoy the extra storage spaces, new office, and light and bright foyer.  We are sure that everyone attending our upcoming family picnic on Friday 28 February (5-6.30 pm) will admire the beautiful new ELC environment. This event is an ideal opportunity for children and families to get to know one another and become more familiar with their child’s educators. We are looking forward to a lovely evening, and a wonderful year in the ELC.
