TOPshots!

Mikayla Piper in Year 12 completed VCE Studio Arts in 2015. One of the works from her 2015 portfolio has been selected to be exhibited in TOPshots at the Monash Gallery of Art. Mikayla’s work was chosen from the best photomedia works produced by students in 2015 from the VCE studies of Art, Studio Arts and Media across the State.

Mikayla’s folio was based on urban images. She combined oil pastel drawing and projection of a photograph to create a surreal blurring of a streetscape. Mikayla is to be congratulated for her dedication to her photographic studies and for her artistic talent.

There were only 16 students selected to have their work exhibited. The exhibition is being held in the Monash Gallery of Art, 860 Ferntree Gully Road Wheelers Hill until May 29. The work is also available to be viewed online through the Monash Gallery website and at http://www.mga.org.au/exhibition/view/exhibition/197

I encourage everyone to have a look at the works on display and to cast a vote for the best work in exhibition.

Past student Lucy Tolan, who completed VCE in 2015, was shortlisted for TOParts. This was a significant achievement as she was shortlisted for both her VCE Art and Studio Arts Folios. While we were disappointed that her works were not exhibited, to be selected for TOParts from over 3,000 applicants is quite an achievement. Lucy’s name is published in the TOParts Catalogue.
