TarraWarra Museum of Art

A combined class of VCE Art and Studio Arts students visited the ‘Patricia Piccinini and Joy Hester: Through Love..’ Exhibition at TarraWarra Museum of Art.

The Exhibition was both intimate and confronting, with more than 50 works, including a new sculpture by Piccinini and rarely seen works by Hester. The exhibition was curated with the intention  to connect the works of two Australian female artists who work in very different mediums.

A talk by the Curator enabled the students to discuss the complex and challenging issues and themes related to the work of Particia Piccinini and her large scale, life-like sculptures of hybrid forms that fuse animal, human and mechanical forms.

Joy Hester’s powerful and raw, brush and ink drawings were evocative in their portrayal of love and loneliness, connection and isolation.
