SIS SPORTS TEAMS OFF TO A FLYER and 2 REPRESENTATIVES AT STATE ATHLETICS

The beginning of Term 4 has seen plenty of success for our BGS athletes both from a team and individual perspective. With no BGS or SIS Carnivals this term, our focus quickly became SIS weekly sport, and trying to continue on the pennant winning form from Term 3 when the Senior Basketball and Intermediate Touch Rugby teams both finished as champions of their division.

Whilst five teams are still competing with two matches remaining, our Intermediate Baseball has already been declared the Pennant Winners as their 3-0 record cannot be beaten by any other teams from this point on. Our Junior Tennis team is also on track for Pennant Success with a 4-0 record with only two matches left to play. The three remaining teams: Junior Soccer, Junior Cricket and Intermediate Volleyball have all tasted some success but sit around the middle of the table at this stage.

From an individual perspective I would like to congratulate Year 8 students Matthew Merrilees and Kyle Chipperfield who represented the school at the 2017-2018 Victorian All Schools Track and Field Competition at Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park. Kyle competed in the Under 15 Javelin event, whilst Matthews events were Under 15 High Jump, Discus and Hammer Throw. Whilst Kyle gained great experience from the competition and did extremely well to reach this level, Matthew was the star performer on the day Jumping 1.70 m to claim a Silver Medal in the High Jump as well as a 5th finish in the Hammer Throw. A tremendous effort by both boys!
