SIS DEBATING

The first round of SIS Debating for 2018 was held at John Paul College in Frankston on 1 August.

The round was reasonably successful overall – with four wins, three losses and one win by forfeit.

Sebastian Nugara, Miller Marks-Boulton, and our Junior Enrichment Captain Ovin Jayawardana, each won Best Speaker. Ovin managed to take out that title in both the Prepared and Secret topics.

With another round of SIS Debating to be held on 30 August, our Junior teams are in strong finals contention, while the remaining debaters will have the opportunity to regain some lost ground in the competition.

The boys are to be commended on the excellent manner in which they prepared for the competition and for the proud and dignified manner in which they represented their school. They looked resplendent in their uniforms and behaved with notable respect for their opposition.

Well done on a great first round gentlemen, and best of luck for the next round.
