Product Design Technology

This year the boys of Mr Tchapkanski’s Product Design Technology class have taken their imaginations to the next level. Hard at work developing ideas for their one of a kind creation for their Units 3 and 4 Product Design class, Daniel Peart has started off the year with some incredible designs that bring forth a new level of design and complexity. Daniel has chosen his client and through discussion, found an innovative way to provide his client with a hall table different to all on the market. With black metal legs in a cross fashion and a contrasting top, the table will show all the furniture industry has to offer. This table utilizes Australian Blackwood outsourced by the client with an epoxy ‘river’ flowing through the table from end to end. The epoxy includes a blue dye to contrast from the dark grain of his timber and show the determination of these boys to stand out with their creations. Daniel strives to provide his client with the best quality piece in a one off production. All in the class are excited to see how the completed piece looks, making a bold statement with high risk due to the resin, the finished piece will be a true reward.

Below is a brief interview with Daniel about his table;

Interviewer: What do you find to be the greatest difficulty with this design?

Daniel: Introducing the resin into the design will be a challenge but well worth the reward.

Interviewer: What was you inspiration for this table?

Daniel: My research showed how amazing resin tables looked and it was a new material for me, something I wanted to try and this project was the perfect opportunity.

Interviewer: Why a resin table?

Daniel: I wanted my piece to stand out and make a statement. I wanted to provide my client with the best I could make and after some research it was clear how amazing resin tables look.
