MCG Tour

Sport plays a significant role in learning at BGSl, for team work, fitness and the development of gross motor skills. In acknowledgement of this, the Year 6 and 7 students of BGS headed in to the MCG to experience a behind the scenes tour of the iconic building. Forays in to the home team’s change room and all of the facilities that are available to them on game day was an enlightening opportunity to see what background support elite sportspeople experience. The chance to sit in the Victorian Bushrangers home space and to see what they can see during the cricket season gave some insight to our talented cricketers and what they might one day participate in. The tour allowed for the students to sit in the Long Room, which is usually off limits to tour groups. This was a truly special opportunity for all students and staff to be in such an auspicious room.

Much fun was had in the MCG Sports Museum and interactive game area as the boys had a chance to see so many different types of sporting memorabilia and history of Australia’s diverse and successful sporting history. All students enjoyed pitting their skills against each other in the cycling, goal shooting and especially kicking for goal against the simulator machine.
