Important Information for Upcoming Assessments

National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) testing will occur from Tuesday 10 May to Thursday 12 May. All Year 7 and Year 9 students will be required to participate in these tests, and classes will be rescheduled accordingly. NAPLAN tests assess student knowledge and skills in Writing, Reading, Language Conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and Numeracy. Later in the year parents of students in Year 7 and 9 will be provided with a report on their child’s performance in these tests. The reports will show how students performed in relation to national standards. Our teachers also use NAPLAN data to improve teaching and learning programs in the classroom. For additional information on NAPLAN testing please visit the VCAA website at www.vcaa.vic.edu.au or the NAP website at www.nap.edu.au.

Year 10 and 11 Mid-year examinations are scheduled to commence on Monday 30 May. They will conclude on Thursday 9 June. Examination timetables and further information will be distributed to your daughters shortly. There will be no scheduled classes for Years 10 or 11 during this period and students are only required to attend school for each of their examinations. Students are of course welcome to complete private study at school when they do not have scheduled examinations.

Year 7 to 9 English and Mathematics examinations. This year all students in Year 7 to 9 will complete mid-year examinations in Mathematics and English. The examinations will be held on Wednesday 26 May and Thursday 27 May. Examination timetables and further information will be distributed to your daughters shortly.

The General Achievement Test (GAT) will be conducted on Tuesday 7 June. The GAT is a test of general knowledge and skills in English, Mathematics, Science and the Humanities. It is a VCAA requirement that the GAT is completed by all students who are completing a VCE Unit 3/4 study. This will therefore include both Year 11 and Year 12 students.

We wish the girls all of the best for these important assessments.
