House Swimming

For all Berwick Grammar School boys the annual House Swimming Carnival was a fun-filled day that clearly demonstrated all of the great attributes of our community.  House spirit was strong with areas adorned in all things Battye, Richards and Forsyth! Many teachers and students dressed up in costumes associated with chosen themes such as ‘Fighting Forsyth’ whose rendition of ‘Eye of the Falcon’ stole the show for House chants.

Berwick Grammar School has some outstanding swimmers, races with Fletcher Kaintz and Dion Maillard were great to watch as their technique and speed is excellent.  Many boys like Matt Merrilees and Riley Clark showed their multi-sport talents.  Personally, I enjoyed seeing all of the boys encourage each other to participate.  For many boys a 50m swim is a long way.  They got into the pool for their houses, for their teammates and for themselves.  Boys from all houses cheered those boys on, giving them the biggest cheers for finishing and participating.  The spirit of the boys and the support and encouragement they offer to each other is a true reflection of the culture of this amazing school.

Richards House took out the carnival with outstanding performances across all age groups.  The depth of their swimming talent is what enabled them to dominate.  Forsyth and Battye House had some excellent individual performances and their participation in all races made the day great fun for every boy.
