Head of Campus update – 27 August 2018

We’ve had a busy but fun few weeks in the Junior School. The playground was filled with colour and chatter on Friday 24 August as we celebrated Book Week. Pirates, princesses, superheroes and favourite book characters came to life around the school with this year’s focus being ‘Finding Your Treasure’. Thanks to the imagination and creativity of Mrs Judy Kneebone, Mrs Stacey Reid and Mrs Michelle Cugley, our Inquiry Centre was decked out in bright decorations and engaging activities reflecting Book Week. The treasure hunt was a huge success and loads of fun. A big thank you to all staff for their enthusiasm in dressing up and parents for helping to transform their child into an interesting book character. We took some wonderful photos that not only provide lasting memories but also capture the excitement and colour of the day.

Rehearsals are in full swing for our upcoming production, The Amazing Adventures of Super Stan. The cast and classes have been working hard to learn their lines, practise their songs, fine tune their dance routines and make props and costumes. Under the supervision and direction of our talented music teacher, Ms Elise Ryan, the Junior School team is working together to ensure this year’s whole school production is enjoyable and memorable for everyone. The production will performed in the Rosanove Auditorium on 4 and 5 September.  As in previous years, the children are permitted to have a sleep-in the mornings following the production but are expected to be at school by 10.30am.

Our Years 5 and 6 boys have been invited to a Father’s Day Breakfast at BGS on Friday 31 August starting at 7.30am and finishing around 8.30am. If interested, the boys will travel to BGS with their dad or special friend and return to Junior School with all the boys on the school bus. This is a wonderful opportunity for our boys and their families to spend time together and become more familiar with the boys campus in Officer. The Year 5 and  6 coordinator, Mr Peter Robertson is looking forward to also attending the event with the boys.

Our annual Pyjama/Movie Day, organised by our Student Representative Council,  has been confirmed for Tuesday 11 September. The students have voted to show the movie Peter Rabbit in the auditorium during lunchtime. This movie has a PG rating so please let your child’s teacher know if you do not wish your child to watch it. All gold coin donations will be forwarded to the new school at the Monash Children’s Hospital in Clayton. Once again, our children have decided to support other children to continue their learning even though they are in hospital.

A reminder that our next Junior School assembly will be held on Monday 17 September at 2.10pm.
