Head of Campus Update – 22 March 2018

As the end of term looms, I would like to thank all members of the school community for their time, energy and wonderful contributions throughout term one. While the girls have been working hard on their studies, the P and F put together a fabulous Twilight Fair which was enjoyed by all who attended. The school community also came together for the Principal’s Cocktail party and the first of the Unicorn Series panel discussions exploring the question ’What makes a good teacher’. The HPV team have competed in two successful events and our GSV teams have enjoyed their seasons of softball, tennis, swimming and diving. Thank you to the parents (and students) who attended PTS Conferences this term and who regularly check their daughter’s academic progress on Parent Lounge. Parental engagement in their child’s learning is a crucial component in their child’s success at school.  I also extend my gratitude to the wonderful staff of Senior School. To the teachers who work so hard on the preparation and delivery of lessons as well as giving up their own time to go on school camps and to keep the extensive program of co-curricular programs operating, thank you. And to the admin staff who work hard to ensure all functions of the school are well organised, thank you.

At the moment staff and students are excitedly anticipating the opening night of the production Return to the Forbidden Planet and I look forward to seeing a large crowd enjoying this fabulous show. If you have not purchased your tickets yet, I urge you to hurry as the auditorium is nearly sold out for some shows. Go to the Trybooking link on the school website.

Earlier this month the students enjoyed a fabulous assembly celebrating International Women’s Day. Ms Rome shared stories about some inspirational women in her life and emphasised the importance of strong female rolemodels to the girls. The school captains also spoke passionately about the importance of women supporting women and urged the girls to practice being supportive of each other. Later that day a small group of girls were invited to attend an International Women’s Day luncheon at Westpac Bank.
