Grandparents and Special Friends Day

Whilst the weather wasn’t kind to us this year, the warm scones and hot English breakfast teas certainly were!

With over 50 grandparents and special friends in attendance this year, the scene was set for a marvellous morning tea. Boys from Year 5, 6 and 7 were well-presented and on their best behaviour as they enjoyed time with their loved ones. The Con Brio Strings played throughout the morning and a beautiful atmosphere ensued.
Having the pleasure of mingling with our guests, I got to hear heart-warming stories about their grandsons, about both past and present boys of BGS. The pride they exhibited was lovely and overall, a wonderful opportunity for everyone to come together and chat amongst families.

We heard some funny anecdotes being presented, alongside some endearing stories of how our grandparents grew up in another country and made their way to Australia for a better life. There was not a dry eye in the audience and I know everyone felt the love and warmth in the room.

The Berwick Blokes sang proudly with a song, aptly named ‘Home’, by Phillip Phillips. The musicians accompanying the boys, held their own on guitars, drums and keyboard, showcasing their skills.

As the assembly came to an end, the Performance Centre was abuzz with families having one last photo taken with their grandsons. What great memories and keepsakes these will be for our boys to cherish and look back on in years to come.
