Gipson Spirit

What a wonderful start to the year we have had in Gipson House. As a way to introduce the House to the new vertical House system, a group of Year 12 Gipson girls came in over the holidays to put some personal touches to the new Gipson locker area. Using the House theme of “Goodnight Gipson”, the girls returned to school on day 1 to find their locker rooms adorned with stars and sleeping masks.

Gipson House has always had a strong sense of support and camaraderie amongst the students. This year, I have seen those qualities come through yet again in the way the students have embraced the new vertical structure. From day 1 when the Year 12 students greeted their Year 7 buddies, showed them how to operate their locks and guided them through their timetables through to the way they have all been watching and helping each other out, they are all true role models of the school values.

Congratulations to Gipson House on winning the “House Spirit” award at the House Swimming Carnival. Ably led by our two House Captains, Lauren Castricum and Carmen Ubermanowicz, the colourful Gipson costumes displayed many variations on our theme and the cheers could be heard by the side of the pool all day long. Congratulations to Mikaela Battin on winning the trophy for Consistent Endeavour.

I am excited for what 2019 brings to Gipson House and I am incredibly proud of the amazing start the girls have made to the year.
