School Funding
Many of you will be aware that school funding has increasingly become a political issue. Recently, a National School Resourcing Board (NSRB) report was presented to the Federal Coalition Government that recommends a change to the current system of federal funding to schools. All independent schools, including St Margaret’s and Berwick Grammar School, are following developments closely and will endeavour to keep our community fully informed as outcomes become clear. We are working closely with Independent Schools Victoria (ISV) who is liaising with the relevant government representatives and members. Please contact the myself, should you have any questions or further comments

St Margaret’s and Berwick Grammar 2019 Structures in the Senior Schools.
As many families are aware, we are reviewing wellbeing and academic support structures in the senior schools to maximize outcomes for the students and their families. We are currently appointing people to a number of wellbeing and academic positions and I will communicate with the community in some detail regarding the new structure once appointments are finalized. In the interim, I note that the caliber and nature of people who have applied for positions have been outstanding and reflect one of the key elements of the Strategic Plan – that we become an employer of choice in the educational landscape. Dr Middleton has extended his contract and in 2019 Dr Middleton (as both Vice Principal and Head of Berwick Grammar School) and I will continue to lead our community to the best of our ability. As always, we will be guided by COURAGE to do the right thing, CURIOSITY to know and learn, CHARACTER to be one’s true self and RESPECT to live wisely & compassionately with others and the planet.
