Back to BGS!

The sun came out for the first day back on campus at Berwick Grammar School and it was heartening to see how pleased all the boys and the teachers were to be back together.

After nearly two months of learning remotely – and very successfully – we celebrated the simple joy of spending time with others and spending less time on screens.

The boys from Years 10 – 12 adapted well to new process of temperature checking in the mornings, which allowed them to greet their teachers and catch up.

At recess and lunchtime, the empty basketball court stood full with games of cricket, basketball and four square being played to the sound of laughter and chatter – reinforcing how powerful social connection is, and the role that exercise can play in helping boys connect.

By the end of the day, things felt almost back to normal, and boys loved being back in the classroom and seeing their House Areas, the new pool table in the Forsyth Building, and having access to the canteen.

At the time of writing this article, the boys in Years 7 – 9 have not as yet returned, but we extend them a warm welcome in the week ahead, and look forward to our community being whole once more.
