A brilliant finish to the year by the HPV senior girls

The eight teams competing at Maryborough all achieved extremely good results with several podium finishes. However, the highlight was the performance of the senior girls in their vehicle Pegasus. The girls had prepared exceptionally well with consistent training throughout the year and managed to obtain an early lead in the 24 hour event despite the strong competition from Bendigo Senior Secondary College and Girton Grammar. The overall ability of our eight girls eventually wore the opposition down and they went on to record a wonderful victory where they also beat the all-time distance record covering more than eight hundred and twenty kilometres in the event. The girls involved were Sarah McClary, Nicole McClary, Sophie Li, Olivia Weston, Ainsley Somers, Susanna Bates, Erin Hanley and Makenzie Betts. The all-female class has been officially contested for ten years with St Margaret’s Senior School girls now winning seven times including the last five in a row.
