Senior School Curriculum

The curriculum at SMS has been designed to cater to the needs of our students in the twenty first century. We focus on the educational experiences that will equip each young person to flourish in our complex and changing world, and ensuring that these skills are acquired, extended and continually refined.

Students can choose from an array of elective subjects like Food Technology, Studio Arts, Theatre Studies, Heath & Human Development and Music - Solo Performance. These subjects complement our rich curriculum and ensure students have the opportunities to explore their talents and interests.

Years 7 and 8 students study a range of core subjects thereby providing a solid foundation for future learning. The comprehensive language program includes the option to study Chinese or French.

In Years 9 and 10 students can choose two elective subjects, building on independent learning strategies introduced through the year. Students also have the opportunity to participate in the QMSGSA sister school student exchange.

VCE students (Years 11 & 12) study English, take part in the Futures Program, and can choose from an extensive range of units.
