Curriculum Overview

The Berwick Grammar School curriculum has been designed to engage, motivate, challenge and extend the students. In all areas of the curriculum the focus is on explicitly teaching the core skills in a boy friendly manner.

The boys are encouraged to experiment, to manipulate, to hypothesise, and to use trial and error in their learning. The curriculum is designed to be fast paced and very active, to engage the boys in their most popular form of communication - touch. BGS students are taught to be critical thinkers in all areas of the curriculum. A young man given the skills of Problem Solving and the confidence to use these skills in a variety of situations puts him on a pathway to academic and life success.

The Primary Years Program (PYP) of the International Baccalaureate (IB) taught at BGS in Years 5 and 6 works to develop the whole child and builds within them a passion for learning and the ability to formulate relevant and exploratory lines of questioning.
