Welcome to St Margaret’s Junior School (Co-educational)
In the early years, students at St Margaret’s are encouraged to explore their world through experience. Teachers create opportunities for our girls and boys to explore concepts, challenge themselves and extend their skills and abilities.
Education in the primary years is often connected to natural play, with curiosity and questions guiding discovery and learning. The Primary Years Program of the International Baccalaureate supports the notion of learning through inquiry, while developing understanding of self and others.
Within a warm and supportive community, students are encouraged to achieve their “personal best” whether in sport, music or the classroom. A global perspective assists students in understanding their place in the world and to appreciate the wonder and diversity of life itself. Whether in the beautiful environs of the gardens or in comfortable well-appointed classrooms, students engage in a variety of rich experiences that help develop their appreciation of self and others. Parents and guardians are welcomed as partners in the learning process and opportunities to celebrate within the community are many. Concerts, picnics, sporting carnivals and special events all encourage family involvement.
Transition to the secondary level is assisted through cross over programs with our girls’ school (SMS) and boys’ school (BGS), ensuring that students feel comfortable as part of the wider school community. Senior students often become role models and mentors who assist younger students in looking at what lies ahead.
