Technology
Technology
is integrated throughout SMS. Students have access to the latest technology
resources from the Information Technology Centre as well as in classrooms,
science laboratories and art studios
Notebook
Program
Students in Years 5-12 use personally owned notebook computers, which
are integrated into all core learning programs.
Information
Technology Centre
All computers in the Information Technology Centre have access to the
Internet, email, printing and network facilities. Additional resources
are digital cameras, scanner and laser printers.
Lecture
Theatre
The Lecture Theatre is equipped with a high-capacity multimedia projector
capable of displaying both video and multimedia presentations with audio.
Students are able to create a multimedia project with their notebook computers
and present it on the large screen provided in the Lecture Theatre.
Digital
Art
The Art Department contains a computer system specifically designed for
electronic imaging and digital art creation. Macintosh G4 computers have
Photoshop, Illustrator and in-design software providing students with
a variety of applications for artwork. Digital cameras, scanners, photo
quality and laser printing are also utilized.
Science
Simulators
The Science laboratories have computer systems with software used to carry
out simulations and scientific calculations. Science laboratories are
equipped with a portable data projector used for visual displays and can
be connected to computers, televisions and VCR's.
Junior
School Classrooms
The Junior School library's catalogue is integrated with the Senior School's
Elizabeth Woodyatt Library. Network points for notebooks in each classroom,
enables students to access software such as reference CD-ROMs, word processing,
multimedia presentation and graphic packages as well as use of the Internet.
Activity programs in mathematics, critical thinking and science are available
for individual and social development. The Junior School Chinese laboratory
computer contains primary level language programs to complement classroom
teaching.
