House
The House
program at St Margaret's provides an extra dimension to the school life.
Every student belongs to one of three Houses - Campbell, Cunningham or
Gipson. House activities run throughout the year covering a broad range
of co-curricular activities including sport, debating, music, drama and
social service.
Student
representatives elected at every Year level undertake the responsibility
for the organisation and running of these activities. These representatives
are, in turn, empowered to co-opt different leaders for the different
house activities, thereby allowing students who have a particular interest
and expertise in any area the opportunity to develop leadership and management
skills in a hands-on situation.
The overall
responsibility for running the Houses is undertaken by Year 12 House Captains
who are supported in their management of their House by staff House Links
and the House Coordinator. Year 9 undertakes special leadership roles
in running major Middle School events such as the Winter and Summer Sports,
the Middle School Debating Festival, and the Themes and Dreams Festival
at the end of the year.
