Groups
There are
several parent groups at SMS, representing various interests and activities
in the School. We value the generous support of these groups. If you would
like to become a member please contact Reception on + 613 9703 8111
Parents' and Friends' Association
The Parents' and Friends' Association is a vibrant group consisting of
the School's family community. It provides a vital social link between
the school parents as well as contributing crucial funds from various
fundraising initiatives to support the School. Its contributions to the
School's facilities are greatly valued and appreciated. The Parents' and
Friends' Association also runs the Second Hand Uniform Shop. There are
also Year Representatives who assist with special events in the School
Calendar, thus developing a contact network for SMS families.
Over
the past few years the P & F have contributed towards a sports/bus
shelter, the erection of the front fence and upgrading of playground equipment.
To commemorate the 70th Anniversary the P & F presented to the school
the beautiful unicorn statue at the top of the driveway, while during
the Schools 75th Anniversary in 2001 a spectacular 75th Anniversary
Ball and Twilight fireworks display was enjoyed by all families associated
with the School. More recently the P & F have donated funds to refurbish
and landscape the undercover picnic area of the Junior School, external
lighting and kitchen equipment for the new Auditorium.

Parents
for Performing Arts Committee
The Committee has been supportive and enhanced the development of music
at SMS since its inception in 1990. Once the Music and Drama Centre was
opened in 2000, the Committee broadened its appeal to include the Drama
Department and now supports Stage 2 of the Performing Arts Centre, the
School Auditorium. The Committee holds regular functions, such as barbeques,
to raise funds so students have the opportunity to tour locally and overseas.
They also assist by raising money for the purchase of musical instruments
and other resources.
Equestrian
Committee
The Equestrian Committee is dedicated to supporting students involved
in representing the School at local and state equestrian events. Every
year, the Equestrian Committee organises the SMS Interschool Equestrian
Challenge increasing St Margaret's equestrian profile in the community.
