Meet the
Council

Tanya
Bailey
Tanya Bailey joins the School Council as one of the Old Girl's Representatives.
Tanya is a past student, teacher and OGA Secretary of St Margaret's. Since
leaving St Margaret's in 1998, Tanya has traveled and taught extensively
overseas and returned to Melbourne last year to take up the posting of
Head of PE, Health and Personal Development at Fintona Girls' School.
Tanya is looking forward to again being an active member of the wider
St Margaret's community.

Philip
Battye (Deputy President of Council)
Philip
is a partner at Ebsworth & Ebsworth Solicitors and a Barrister and Solicitor
of the High Court of Australia and the Supreme Court of Victoria. His areas
of expertise are Insurance and Litigation. He joined the School Council
in 2002 and has three children currently attending Pre-Prep, Year 1 and
Year 2 at SMS. |

Mary-Jo
Cochrane (Deputy President of Council)
With a Bachelor of Education and Dip Ed, Mary-Jo taught for 13 years prior
to building and operating her own local childcare centre for a further nine
years. Mary-Jo has been newly appointed as Chair of the St Margaret's Marketing
Committee and is also a member of the fundraising focus group. Mary-Jo is
married with three children and her two daughters are currently attend Year
4 and Year 6 at St Margaret's.

Dr Deborah
Corrigan
Debbie currently holds the position of Associate Dean (Teaching) Faculty
of Education, Monash University. She has a background in teaching and
has been a Reviewer of Schools, both nationally and internationally. Debbie
is on the Editorial Committee for the Australian Science Teachers Journal
and Chemeda: The Australian Journal of Chemical Education, is a Member
of the Victorian Committee of Deans of Education and the AEU - University
Working Party, and is also involved in many consultancies. She is School
Council President at Cardinia Primary School and is a Science Consultant
and Advisor for many Gippsland Schools (both Government and Non-Government).
Debbie has a daughter who is currently in Year 10 at SMS.

Anita
Forsyth (President of Council)
Anita has been associated with SMS over the last 11 years as a parent
of two girls, Genevieve in Year 12 and Larissa in Year 9. Anita has been
on the SMS School Council for the last seven and a half years, where she
has worked on the Finance Sub-committee and is currently Chair of Council.
Anita is
a lecturer in teacher education at Monash University and has authored
a number of books and journal articles, which reflect her main areas of
research interest including curriculum and assessment, economic and financial
literacy, and civics and citizenship education. She is regularly invited
to speak at conferences and professional development seminars for educators.

Robert
Foster
As a practicing Architect, Robert's contribution to council has been focused
largely in the work of the Building and Grounds Committee. Currently,
most of his professional time is spent as a sustainable energy policy
and planning consultant to both state and federal governments. Robert
lives near Warragul, a locality where a growing number of families choose
to send their daughters to our wonderful school, and he has two daughters
at SMS in Years 10 and 12.

Kirsty
Mitchell
Kirsty has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Melbourne University. She is
currently employed part time in the Information Technology department
of an Insurance company.
Kirsty is
involved with the Parents' and Friends' Association at St Margaret's and
is in her second year as President. She has two children at SMS in Year
6 and Year 9.

George
Richards
George
is a Consultant
and Director to a number of public and private companies, specifically in
the areas of Retail, Marketing, Manufacturing and Distribution. Previous
roles include Chief Executive Mitre 10 South West Ltd and Managing Director
of Cooper Tools Pty Ltd. George is the Chairman of the School's Finance
Committee and his daughter Adrienne completed her secondary schooling at
St Margaret's in 2001. |

Robert
Stunden
Robert is a Children's Surgeon. He and his wife Carol have had connections
with SMS for twelve years, initially with a son who graduated from Year
3 and currently a daughter in Year 9. He is a Senior Surgeon at the Monash
Medical Centre and is Chairman of Surgery for the Mornington Peninsula.
Robert is also on a Victorian Health Network Board and a Medical Advisory
Committee.
